Student-Led Teaching on Sustainable Development

Simon Okwir, lecturer at the Department of Civil and Industrial Engineering, has conducted a student-led teaching session at Studio Blåsenhus on the theme of modern slavery and sustainable supply chains.

In the recorded interview, you will meet Simon together with one of the participating students, Falco Tom Dangers. Simon and Falco discuss the session, which included student presentations and a student-led panel discussion with invited industry guests. A key element of the session was also the exploration of the emotional and ethical dimensions of the topic, where students expressed their insights through artistic means such as poetry, music, and visual media.

The interview focuses on the pedagogical benefits of involving students as co-creators in teaching, from both a teacher’s and a student’s perspective. Simon and Falco also share advice on how active student participation can be effectively implemented in practice.

The episode is part of the series "Higher Education in Focus Meets...", produced by the The Unit for Academic Teaching and Learning and distributed via the unit’s newsletter. The interview is moderated by Christine Mackay Tircomnicu, Excellent Teacher at the Department of English and educational developer at the Unit for Academic Teaching and Learning.
