Temporary interruption for Ouriginal October 7–9
During a data transfer between systems, Ouriginal will not be available October 7–9. After this period, the service should function as normal until the new system is launched.
As previously announced in Studiumnytt! and on the Staff gateway, our text-matching/plagiarism detection tool will be replaced this October. Ouriginal will be phased out and replaced by Originality. The overall workflow will remain largely the same, but the reports will have a new look.
We expect the new text-matching system to be available for use at the end of October. Text-matching in both Studium and Inspera will continue to work in a similar way as before. During a short transition period, the stability of the system may be somewhat lower.
If you have questions or need IT support, please contact itsupport@uu.se.
Why is this change happening?
Ouriginal will be discontinued by the vendor in 2026, which means the contract cannot be extended. Sunet (which provides many of our digital services) has therefore carried out a new procurement, resulting in the choice of Inspera Originality.
What should I, as a teacher, consider before the interruption?
Where possible, it is advisable to temporarily close assignments between 7 and 9 October to prevent any file uploads during that period. If this is not feasible, files may be submitted afterward, see the next paragraph for instructions.
What should be done with submissions uploaded during the break?
After the break, starting no earlier than 10 October, you will need to resubmit the files to Ouriginal if you want them to be checked for plagiarism.
You can either resubmit them via SpeedGrader in Studium or send the files directly to your analysis address in Ouriginal.
How will I know when the interruption is over?
Once the interruption is over you will be informed both in an announcement Studium and via the system status in the Staff gateway.
