Students with disabilities allowed to make audio recordings
Students with disabilities who have been granted note-taking support are allowed to make audio recordings of lectures and other teaching sessions, using the tools provided by Uppsala University. This has been decided by the Vice-Chancellor (UFV 2025/2194).
The right to make audio recordings applies provided that the sessions are not for assessment purposes and that the recording is not deemed to be clearly inappropriate.
The Student Affairs and Academic Registry Division will continue to digitalise the note-taking support service. Digital note-taking support provides students with options for audio recording, transcription and processing of the material. It ensures a more reliable and consistent standard of support, compared with the current system where a fellow student shares their notes. Audio recordings are for personal use only and must not be shared.
