Some modules to be expanded on research pages

On 21 November, some minor changes will be implemented in the page templates for research areas, research groups and research projects. Some of the modules that are currently collapsed will be expanded.

The modules that are being expanded are the following:

  • In the research area page template:
    • Research groups
    • Research project
  • In the research group page template:
    • Research areas
    • Research project
  • In the research project page template:
    • Details
    • Project members
    • Research areas
    • Research groups

The information in all these modules is to be considered fundamental for the page in question and therefore important to have visible when the page loads. A review of the departments’ research pages has also shown that it is rare for these modules to contain such extensive information that it would be a problem to have them expanded on page load.

For most departments these changes do not entail any extra work.

A few departments have made their own equivalents to these modules. They must now review their research pages and ensure that the information is not duplicated on the page when the modules are expanded.

It is strongly recommended NOT to make your own solutions for things that have an intended place in the research templates. Partly because the pages become less uniform, partly because the information cannot be indexed correctly. It can also cause problems when the templates are updated in the future.

Here are two more planned improvements to the research page templates:

  • The horizontal lines that are visible when the short description field is empty will be hidden.
  • The title of the modules that link ”upwards” to research areas/research groups will be clarified.
