Four research-based innovation projects from Uppsala University are taking part in Nordic Innovation Fair 2025 – an international event where researchers meet investors and innovation stakeholders. UU Innovation coordinates the participation as part of its efforts to create opportunities for the university’s researchers to take their ideas further towards societal impact.

Nordic Innovation Fair brings together researchers from across the Nordic countries with the aim of showcasing early-stage innovation projects with commercial potential. Here, researchers have the opportunity to present their ideas to investors, companies, and other key players in the innovation ecosystem.

Uppsala University is represented by four projects in different categories:

Medtech & Diagnostics

  • Pixlbio (formerly Phenaros) – developing a platform based on AI and automation to accelerate drug development.
  • DosEEN – developing tools to support treatment and care for the ear, eye, and nose.

Biotech & Pharma

  • Sang Biotech – developing new antibody therapies for kidney and cardiovascular diseases.

Greentech & Food

  • MoniTech – developing user-friendly equipment for electrochemistry.

All projects originate from research at Uppsala University and have received support from UU Innovation to advance along a commercial path.

From national to international exposure

Several of the projects also took part in the Life Science Innovation Frontiers Forum in June 2025, a new national event organised by UU Innovation together with KI Innovations AB. The forum gathered over 200 participants, including more than 30 investors, and highlighted research-based innovations in life sciences from across Sweden. A total of 16 early-stage innovation projects from Uppsala University were presented. One of them was Sang Biotech, led by Marie Jeansson, researcher at the Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology. She explains that the forum was her first innovation fair:

“My participation there means that I now know roughly how it works and can get even more out of Nordic Innovation Fair. I hope to make connections with both potential investors and other entrepreneurs. My experience as someone quite new to the biotech world is that every meeting brings more knowledge and that there is always something to learn. I’m genuinely impressed by how generous people are with their time and networks in supporting me and the project I represent,” says Marie Jeansson.

Strategic support for early-stage researchers

UU Innovation works to provide researchers and students at Uppsala University with the right support and contexts to take their ideas further towards societal impact. This is the first time the university is participating in Nordic Innovation Fair. By coordinating the participation, UU Innovation provides researchers with a platform for international outreach, valuable feedback, and connections relevant to their projects’ continued development.

Frida Henningsson Johnson is one of two business advisors from UU Innovation who will attend:

“We see Nordic Innovation Fair as a very good setting for researchers who want to take their ideas towards commercialisation and who are seeking capital. Since this is the first time, two of us from UU Innovation will be present to support the projects on site. Our work includes preparing innovation projects for investment, and we hope this will be a great arena to test the waters early among international investors.”

The road to Nordic Innovation Fair

Nordic Innovation Fair 2025 takes place in Copenhagen on 22–23 September.

The innovation projects from Uppsala University that are participating are research-based and have received support from UU Innovation. They have been coached for some time, expressed an interest in commercial application, and been assessed as being at the right stage to benefit from investor meetings. Participation is part of a long-term plan for the projects’ development, with Nordic Innovation Fair as a natural next step.
