Opportunities for staff exchanges through Erasmus+

New semester, new opportunities. Every year, Erasmus+ offers opportunities to apply for grants for various types of staff and teacher exchanges, within the EU as well as outside the EU. Applications to non-EU countries are now open from 1–31 January 2026.

Outside the EU

All employees at Uppsala University, including doctoral students, can apply for grant funds for various forms of staff exchange with universities outside the EU and in Erasmus+ partner countries. This is done through Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility.

A new application period will open from 1–31 January 2026. There are currently openings for staff or teacher exchanges in seven countries:

  • Albania
  • Armenia
  • Georgia
  • Ghana
  • Morocco
  • Moldova
  • Tunisia.

You can apply for staff and teacher exchanges within Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility during two periods each year:

  • 1–31 January
  • 15 September – 15 October

EU and programme countries

All employees at Uppsala University, including doctoral students, can apply for grant funds for various forms of staff exchange with universities within the EU and in Erasmus+ partner countries.

You can apply for a number of different types of exchanges:

  • Job shadowing
  • Training programme
  • Participation in a course, seminar or workshop
  • Teacher exchange
  • Teacher exchange combined with another type of staff exchange
  • Staff weeks.

 

Applications for financial compensation are open from 1 January to 15 June, and from 1 September to 30 November, respectively. Applications are processed as they are received until the University’s allocated funding for this purpose is all used up for the academic year. Thus far however, everyone who has applied and met the requirements has been awarded a grant.

Studies and traineeships for doctoral students

Doctoral students, who are both employees and students, can also participate in Erasmus+ as a student. This means that as a doctoral student, you can also apply for studies or traineeships (work placements, internships), for example in order to conduct a field study or collect data.
