More people want to study at Uppsala University this autumn

A total of 95,833 people have applied for programmes or courses at Uppsala University in the autumn semester. This is an increase of 3.8 per cent compared with the 2025 autumn semester. The most popular programme is the Law Programme. The number of applicants to Campus Gotland is 13,362, up 4.2 per cent compared with last year.
Applicants to Uppsala University had 2,158 different courses and programmes to choose from in autumn 2026, which is a slight decrease from last year’s figure of 2,231. For Campus Gotland, the corresponding figure is 189, which is 26 fewer than in the 2025 autumn semester.
The programmes receiving the most applications are as follows:
Law Programme: 7,264 applicants
Bachelor’s Programme in Business and Economics: 5,559 applicants
Medicine Programme: 5,553 applicants
Nursing Programme: 4,112 applicants
Social Work Programme: 3,913 applicants

Business Studies A: 1,320 applicants
Psychology A: 1,081 applicants
Economics A: 1,009 applicants
Political Science A: 803 applicants

Bachelor’s Programme in Leadership –
Quality Management – Improvement (Distance): 1,133 applicants
Leadership for Individuals and Groups, 7.5 credits 1,103
Leadership – Quality Management – Improvement A, 30 credits: 1,088 applicants
Geopolitics and International Relations, 7.5 credits: 787 applicants
Among programmes belonging to Campus Gotland, the Bachelor’s Programme in Leadership – Quality Management – Improvement (Distance) therefore tops the list, with 1,133 applicants. Next comes the Nursing Programme (550 applicants), then the Bachelor’s Programme in Game Design and Graphics (384), the Bachelor’s Programme in Digital Business Development (242) and the Bachelor’s Programme in Game Design and Programming (232).
For the autumn term of 2026, the number of applicants to the Bachelor of Science Programme in Pharmacy at Uppsala University has also risen sharply – from 56 to 377 first-choice applicants. This represents an increase of almost 600 per cent. The total number of applicants for the Bachelor of Science Programme in Pharmacy in autumn 2026 is 1,263, compared with 396 for the autumn term of 2025.
Across all of Sweden’s higher education institutions, a total of 424,118 people provisionally have applied for a degree programme or course.
