Uppsala University’s new Staff Gateway is open
The new Staff Gateway at Uppsala University was launched on 6 December, an enhanced website that will make it easier to find what you need.
The new Staff Gateway is now in place for all staff at Uppsala University. The website was launched on 6 December and contains a number of new features.
The basis of the entire project has been to make it easy and simple to access the information you need in your role, whether you work in research, education or support.
“With the launch of the new Staff Gateway, we have taken a big step forward towards a coherent website for Uppsala University,” notes Pernilla Björk, Director of Communications.
“It feels fantastic – finally the time has come to launch the new Staff Gateway. The project team and all the editors have been working intensively over a long period and have done a fantastic job. We’ve now come one step further,” says Anna Tano Graflind, project manager for the new Staff Gateway.
Information aimed at all staff can be found under the headings Employment, Support and tools and Organisation and governance.
The page menu and content have been reorganised, are smaller in scope and should be easily accessible to all.
For those who work in a specific area, there are a number of targeted gateways, where the content is customised and compiled in one place.
Tools with guides – and courses
A new feature is that under the Skills development heading, courses, seminars, workshops and more are compiled in a calendar, where you can search for relevant courses based on role and subject.
Another new feature is that all the tools that staff use in their daily work are compiled in one place, where you can search both by the name of the tool and by its use. Each tool comes with a number of guides.
Several new gateways launched
At the same time as the Staff Gateway, new websites are being launched for all disciplinary domains, faculties and campuses, with gateways for staff, students and external visitors. The University’s museums are also launching their new websites.
You choose what you want to follow
The Staff Gateway is based on you following different pages in line with your role, the area of in the organisation in which you are placed and your physical location. Some of these are selected for you automatically while others are up to you to choose. The pages you follow impact which shortcuts, news and calendar events appear on your home page and in your personal menu.
Gradual phase-out
The old website, the Staff Portal, will be available until the end of April, as the launch of other parts of the University's website – such as the local information of the departments – will take place gradually.
During this time, the group spaces on the Staff Portal will also be available before gradually being replaced by SharePoint or phased out. The staff directory will also remain on the Staff Portal for a certain period.
