Rationale for international cooperation in a polarised world
In March 2024, the Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education (STINT) published the report “Rationale for international cooperation in an increasingly polarised world”.
The Advisory Board at the Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education (STINT) has written the report on the subject “Rationale for international cooperation in an increasingly polarised world”.
The report grew out of fears that research may increasingly come to be seen as a security issue and the consequences this could have for global research collaborations.
The Advisory Board proposes measures in response. Here are some of the proposals in brief:
- Individual scholars should discuss their international endeavours with their colleagues and the academic leadership before starting collaboration to avoid difficulties further on.
- Higher education institutions should establish a working group for developing a strategic perspective on internationalisation.
- Higher education institutions must increase their capacity for analysis, international monitoring and awareness, as well as overall collaboration management.
