New guidelines for business travel and meetings
On 12 November 2024, a revised version of the University’s guidelines for business travel and meetings was adopted. You can find the guidelines on the Staff Gateway.
The background to this revision was a need to adapt the guidelines to the University’s goals and strategies for a more sustainable society. For example, virtual meetings should always be considered first.
So what’s new in the revised guidelines for business travel and meetings? Among other things, that environment-friendly and climate-smart modes of transport should be used as far as possible, and modes of transport and accommodation should be chosen so that you can utilise your working hours as efficiently as possible. In addition, security and the work environment must be considered when choosing travel arrangements.
Local travel must primarily use public transport, and Uppsala University’s corporate solutions for travel by bus and train must be used. Travel by train must be selected for journeys of 500 km or less, and train journeys lasting longer than two hours may be booked in first class or its equivalent where you need to work for the majority of the time you will spend travelling.
Before booking a business trip, it must be approved by the relevant manager and in addition, a trip notification must now also be submitted in the HR system when your trip will exceed 100 km.
