On 28 January 2025, the Vice-Chancellor decided to appoint Joakim Palme as the new Vice-Rector of the Disciplinary Domain of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Based on the proposal from the Assembly of Electors at the Disciplinary Domain of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Vice-Chancellor has appointed Joakim Palme as the new Vice-Rector, succeeding Tora Holmberg.

The change of Vice-Rector in the middle of the mandate period is due to Tora Holmberg having been proposed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Umeå University.

Joakim Palme will take office as Vice-Rector on 1 February 2025 and has been appointed for the remainder of the mandate period, until 30 June 2026.
