Nominate for the Hjärnäpplet Innovation Prize.

Each year Uppsala University awards the Hjärnäpplet prize to highlight innovations arising from the world of research. The award aims to recognise and reward efforts within research and valorisation at the university that have led to new solutions capable of making the world a better and more sustainable place.

Last year's recipient was Alireza Malehmir from the Department of Earth Sciences. Together with his research team, he developed a seismic landstreamer system used in various locations worldwide to examine subsurface conditions and stability. This innovation facilitates geophysical surveys in challenging environments such as cities, tunnels, and mines, contributing to sustainable urban environments and society's energy transition and climate adaptation.

Nominate candidates from all disciplinary domains

All members of staff at Uppsala University can nominate one or more candidates for the prize, which includes a diploma, a statuette and a grant of SEK 50,000. The prize is presented during the university's anniversary celebration in October.

Don't miss the opportunity to recognise a colleague who has contributed to translating knowledge into, for example, a new product or service with the potential to make a difference in society. Given that the award aims to reflect the university's breadth, innovative power, and pursuit of a sustainable future, nominations from all scientific fields are welcome.

Nominations for the Hjärnäpplet prize are open from 1–31 March 2025.
