In this matchmaking event, we aim to connect researchers across disciplines who work at Uppsala University and use, or want to start using, Bayesian methods or the probabilistic programming framework Stan. The event will comprise a series of short talks, and ample time to connect with other researchers over structured coffee breaks.
To bounce ideas and explore possible collaborations, we invite participants to contribute a short talk that either
A. Pitches a research problem that could potentially be catalysed by Bayesian inference; or
B. Presents an ongoing Bayesian inference project.
Talks should be approximately five minute long, and be easily understandable to an interdisciplinary audience. We won’t use slides, but feel welcome to bring print-outs with key points. A detailed schedule will be sent out closer to the event day.
To sign up, please fill out this registration form by March 22nd.
Places are limited.
Contact Sara Hamis (sara.hamis@it.uu.se) with any questions about the event.
We are also organising an introductory tutorial on Stan on April 8th at 9-12. Here we will present the basics of Bayesian modelling and demonstrate how to perform Bayesian inference using probabilistic programming and the Stan language.
The event is organised by the interBayes network. Our aim is to unite Bayesian modellers, and to make Bayesian inference accessible to researchers with diverse backgrounds. Excitingly, Bayesian methods are gaining popularity in economics, bio-medicine, epidemiology, sociology etc.. Welcome to our workshops and events on Bayesian modelling and Stan to learn more.
