Admission and registration

The Department offers several Bachelor's and Master's programmes as well as freestanding courses. In order to keep your place on the programme or course you are admitted to, you must register. Via the headings below you will find information regarding registration and start of studies for the spring semester 2025.

The Department gives courses and programmes in both Uppsala and Visby. For questions regarding studies in Uppsala contact: info@arkeologi.uu.se. For questions regarding studies in Gotland or distance courses contact: studentservice-cg@uu.se.

If you are a new student at Uppsala University, you must first activate your student account before you can register.

Uppsala University uses the student platform Studium (Canvas), where you will find all information about your programme and/or course. If you want to download the app, search for Canvas Student.

You register yourself in Ladok. If you have not registered by the last day of registration, you risk losing your place. The place will be passed on to any reserves.

If you need help with the registration, you can email the course administrator before the last day of registration to be registered for the course.

Registration periods

There are different registration periods for different courses, so be sure not to miss your registration period! Once registration closes, reserves are called, and you risk losing your right to the place if you have not registered. It is your responsibility to check which dates apply.

Conditional admission

If you do not meet the eligibility requirements of the course/programme, you will be admitted conditionally (VI). If you are admitted with conditions, you cannot register. To keep your place, you must accept it. You do this by emailing info@arkeologi.uu.se for Uppsala and studentservice-cg@uu.se for Gotland, by the last day of registration.

Write ‘Accepted with Conditions’ in the subject line and state in the email your name, social security number and which course/programme you are accepted for.

Reserve enrolment

Any reserve admission will start after the end of the registration period. You do not need to contact the Department, but will be invited if there are places available. Notification will be sent out by email (response time approximately two days). Therefore, be sure to check your email daily when the registration period ends and the reserve admission starts. Also check your junk mail as emails from Uppsala University can sometimes end up there.

Have you changed your mind?

If you have changed your mind or been prevented from attending, it is important that you cancel your application so that another student can take your place.
If you have any questions, contact info@arkeologi.uu.se in Uppsala or studentservice-cg@uu.se for Gotland.
