About the project
The beef supply chain in Brazil is known for its complexity and broad geographical extent, with animals often born in places far from where they are slaughtered and passing through many different farms during this process. This complexity cannot be overlooked when proposing efforts to reduce deforestation in the supply chain. Through the use of the Animal Transit Guide (GTA), which describes the potential movement of animals from one farm to another or between a farm and a slaughterhouse, by applying graph and spatial analysis together with community theory, we aim to map the propagation of risks and inform immediate actions geographically.
This work is part of an app called do Pasto ao Prato (www.dopastoaoprato.com.br) released in 2022 in Brazil, and has the potential to be expanded to other products and countries.
When
Could be possible to carry out during spring semester 2024
Knowledge needed
Graph analysis, Supply network mapping and interest in sustainability applying to agricultural supply chains.
