Who inspires you? Nominate alumnus of the year!
You can now nominate an alumnus for the Alumnus of the Year 2026 award (deadline is 28 February). If you submit your nomination by 23 February, the faculty leadership may also select your nomination as the proposal for the disciplinary domain.
Have you nominated someone before who was not selected?You are welcome to nominate the same person again.
Who can submit a nomination?
Anyone connected to Uppsala University – students, employees, alumni, and friends – is welcome to nominate.
Nomination criteria
The nominated alumnus/alumna should:
- be a good role model for current and future students
- have distinguished themselves in their career, made a valuable contribution, or in some other way achieved something noteworthy
- valuable contributions may include, for example: high‑quality research or education, significant cultural work, social engagement, contributions to development and innovation, or other efforts that help make the world a better place
- normally have completed at least four semesters of study at Uppsala University
- preferably have been engaged in the university’s activities or student life (considered a merit)
How the Alumnus of the Year is selected
The Vice-Chancellor makes the final decision on who will receive the distinction, based on recommendations from a selection committee consisting of representatives from the university leadership, each disciplinary domain, the student unions, the Kuratorskonventet, and the Uppsala University alumni network.
