Double victory for the Department of Information Technology in this year’s 3MT competition

When this year’s 3MT competition concluded on Wednesday, it became clear that both the winner and the runner‑up come from the Department of Information Technology, Division of Systems and Control.

For the first time, prize money was awarded in the competition: the winner receives SEK 15,000 and the runner‑up SEK 7,500 to use within the scope of their doctoral studies, for example for literature, professional development or travel. The funds are earmarked for the researchers, and will be transferred to project accounts at the department.

A total of thirteen doctoral students took part in the live‑streamed competition, and the level of competition was very high. In the end, Alessandro Varalda (‘How to Teach the Brain to Heal Itself’) was named the winner, and Anna Franziska Frigge (‘A GPS for Deep Brain Stimulation’) the runner‑up – both from the Division of Systems and Control.

The department congratulates both award recipients on their excellent achievements!
