Transition to digital degree certificates

As of 1 January 2024, Uppsala University will only issue digital degree certificates instead of certificates on paper. The change is part of a national process which includes all Swedish universities.

If you receive your degree after this change has taken place you will be notified through email once your degree has been issued. The degree certificate is then available for download through Ladok for students as a PDF file.

If you currently do not have an active student account you can access your degree through Ladok for alumni. To log in on Ladok for alumni you will need a digital ID which you can only get if you have a Swedish Personal Identity Number. Please note that your student account will be active for three semesters after your last registration. You can always contact the Graduations Office for your digital degree if you, for any reason, are not able to login on Ladok for students or Ladok for alumni.

The PDF file will be e-stamped which means that the document cannot be changed or tampered with. It is verifiable through Ladok verification or Adobe. You can also use the share degree function in Ladok to share the degree certificate with, for example, a potential employer.

Previously issued degree certificates on paper will not be replaced by a digital version.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the Graduations Office at degrees@uu.se.
