Compete for a thesis award

Have you written a degree thesis in the field of social sciences or humanities that concerns Russia, Ukraine, or the CIS countries? Then you have a chance to win 25 000 SEK!

For the sixth year in a row the Institute for Russian and Eurasian Studies (IRES), in cooperation with the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for Eurasia, announces a degree thesis competition with an award of 25,000 SEK. The award is given for an outstanding thesis in the field of social sciences or humanities that deals with economics, trade, business, history, political science, media, or cultural studies, etc., in relation to Russia, Ukraine or CIS countries.

Students at a Swedish university who have completed a degree thesis at the C, D, or Master’s level are eligible to apply. The essay may be written in either Swedish or English.

Apply by 30 January 2026.
