Are you keen to try long-distance skates, or have some previous experience and want company on a shorter trip, and togetherness around the barbecue? Then you are welcome to come along when we meet in Fjällnora (if the ice conditions are good, of course!).

We go for a group tour on the part of the lake that is reported to have safe ice. Then we can divide into different groups depending on how experienced a skater you are. No one is allowed to skate alone and you always skate at your own responsibility and risk! After skating, we gather around one of the bonfires, where you can barbecue something you have brought with you.

Current ice status can be found on Fjällnora's Facebook page.

All levels are welcome to try, but of course it's up to you to handle yourselfe and try on your own if you're a total beginner. The leaders can give you some tips, but they are not educated iceskating-instructors.

Get there

By car to Fjällnora, or by bus no. 810 from Uppsala Central Station at 10:00 (Location C2) to Fjällnora (arrives at 10:30) and from there walk about 400 m.

We gather at the entrance to the rental in Fjällnorastugan, Fjällnora nature reserve.

Equipment

To bring:

  • Mandatory equipment is long-distance skates and ice spikes*
  • Preferably a helmet
  • Weather-appropriate clothing. We also recommend bringing a change of clothes.
  • A seat pad in a rucksack
  • Something for the barbeque

*If you do not have your own long-distance skates and ice spikes, we can arrange for you to hire long-distance skates (including ice spikes) for two hours from Fjällnora's own hire service for a maximum of 15 participants (please note that your size may be out of stock at the rental shop and advance booking is not possible, so bring a pair of extra large socks so that you can fill out a larger size if necessary).

If you are not among the first 15 to register for rental, you may be able to borrow long-distance skates completely free of charge at Fritidsbanken.

Registration

Maximum 15 paricipant (including rent of ice skates). Last day for registration is 5 February.

If the events becomes fully booked, you are of course still welcome to come join. Since we cannot offer skate rental for free for more than 15 persons, bring your own skates and come anyway!
