Student Health Service in Uppsala

What the Student Health Service can help you with

At the Student Health Service in Uppsala, you can meet counsellors and registered psychologists. There are also a health pedagogue focusing on preventive health care. We help you with questions connected to life as a student. You can, for example:

  • get advice from our counsellors/psychologist
  • receive shorter individual counselling

When you need to turn to other healthcare providers

In some cases, you should turn to other care providers than the Student Health Service. This applies, for example, if:

  • you have a physical illness or injuries
  • you know that you need to see a doctor to get a prescription or a doctor's certificate
  • you want to be assessed for ADHD, autism or dyslexia. Please note that the waiting time for a neuropsychiatric assessment is several years.
  • you have more severe or persistent mental health problems, want to be assessed for potential psychotherapy, or want long-term therapy. 

In such cases, you should contact a health centre (vårdcentral), or call 1177 (from a foreign phone number dial +46 771 11 77 00).

If you are unsure where to turn for help, you are welcome to book a telephone counselling appointment for advice.

Changed opening hours during the summer

Student Health Service in Uppsala is closed for physical visits June 23 to August 10. Possibility of digital support calls is available.

The telephone counseling is open as usual except for July 17-18 and July 31-August 1 when it is canceled.

During the period July 14 to August 10, the reception phone 018-471 6900 has limited opening hours:
Week 29: Mon July 14, Wed July 16 10:00-11:00
Week 30: Mon July 21, Wed July 23, Fri July 25 10:00-11:00
Week 31: Mon July 28, Wed July 30 10:00-11:00
Week 32: Mon August 4, Wed August 6, Fri August 8 10:00-11:00

If you want an appointment for individual counselling, you must first book a telephone appointment to be contacted by a counsellor or psychologist. They will ask questions about what is troubling you, make an assessment, give you advice and set up a first appointment if the Student Health Service is best suited to help you. If not, you will be guided to the right place. If you are unsure where to find help, book an appointment and we will help you.

All staff at the Student Health Service are bound by confidentiality, professional secrecy. No information is released without your consent.

You cannot book a first visit by email or by visiting us.

Book a telephone appointment

Every workday before 09:00 we post open telephone appointments, in our booking system. Select English by pressing the globe in the upper right corner. If there are no available times, new times will be added the next workday.

Note: If you book the telephone appointment without BankID you need to confirm your booking by clicking the button "VERIFY" in the email that has been sent to you and select a password. Save the verification email with login details and remember the password you have chosen.

It is possible to get a first time counselling appointment within 3 weeks.

When you have a booked appointment, we will call you from a hidden number.

If you are unable to attend an appointment, cancel or change the time by calling our reception. See contact information below.

For video sessions you will receive an invitation via email before the meeting. If you´ve not received an email when the session is due to start or have problems with joining the meeting, please contact the reception. See contact details below.

If you are a doctoral student at Uppsala University or SLU, regardless of funding, you should turn to the occupational health services for support and counselling. They offer some counselling sessions free of charge before the head of department has to be informed. For more information and to book an appointment:
