Primary Reading

For print copies, choose a critical edition of the novel with a named editor and explanatory notes, for instance Norton, Broadview, Penguin Classics or, ideally, Oxford World's Classics editions. Guidance on e-books will be given before the course begins. The novels are listed in order of their appearance in the course.
