Entry requirements

Electric measuring technique or similar. Basic electronics. Basic programming knowledge.

Learning outcomes

After finishing the course the student should have a basic knowledge about computer based measuring systems and be able to

  • design and construct a computer based measuring and control system after given specifications
  • present the work in a written report and orally and explain the result for a person not involved in the proect
  • critically evaluate other similar projects with respect to the technical solution and its presentation.

Content

An orientation about different computer buses used in measuring techniques. Circuits to interface between analogue and digital signals. Hardware and software aspects on computer based measuring and control systems. LabView-programming tutorial.

Instruction

"Project based learning" - lectures, laboratory exercises and a 5-6 week (part time) project work.

Assessment

Project examination. Grade criterions: The project work and how advanced it is. The quality of the written report, its seminar presentation and an evaluation of another report. The laboratory exercises should also be passed.
