Entry requirements

At least 37.5 ECTS credits in mathematics,37.5 ECTS credits in physics,

Boundary Layer Meteorology 7.5 ECTS or equivalent.

Learning outcomes

After the course the student shall

- have gained a deeper understanding of energy flyx based on theoretical considerations and experiemental results.

- an understanding of differences in energy fluxes due to the underlying surface (land/sea)

Content

The basic about field experiments, fluxes and gradients.

Conditions over land:

a. Resistance

b. Water balance and evaporation

c. The energy balance and combination models

Conditions over sea:

a. Exchange of impulse, sensible heat and water vapour over sea

b. Interaction between wind- and sea waves

c. Models describing the exchanges at sea surface.

Instruction

The course consists of a number of seminars, where the students must take an active part with presentations and discussions.

Assessment

The examination take place during the course. A Student that has not been active in the discussions must do a complementary examination.
