Entry requirements
Degree in physiotherapy or medicine. For application to elective courses, 135 ECTS credits from the physiotherapy programme are required. For medical students, knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology is required.
Learning outcomes
To provide in-depth knowledge of physical exercise and test of physical ability of healthy and ill individuals. To provide theoretical knowledge of planning, implementing and evaluating physical exercise as a part of rehabilitation.
Content
Theoretical knowledge of physiological reactions to inactivity and exertion. Theoretical knowledge of physiological and pathophysiological causes to exercise tolerance. Theoretical and practical knowledge of physical tests. Theoretical knowledge in behavioural medicine to enhance physical activity level.
Instruction
This is partly a distance course and instruction is in the form of lectures, demonstrations, labs and seminars at the course site.
Assessment
Successful completion of the course requires oral och written scrutiny of an article and a book, an individual assignment submitted in writing and an oral presentation of the assignment. Students must attend at least four out of the five course meetings.
