General provisions

The course is an optional course and can be taken on undergraduate level.

Entry requirements

To be accepted to the course there is a requirement of at least one year of studies in Educational Sciences or two years of studies in a Teacher Training Programme.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course the student will have the knowledge to:

  • identify and discuss different views of children's geographies and identity-work in different educational contexts.
  • describe, explain and analyse identity-work in different educational contexts.
  • Content

    In the course different aspects is treated about

  • children's everyday life in educational settings
  • children's agency within and representations of different places
  • identity and identity-work.
  • Instruction

    The instruction consists of lectures, seminars and tutoring.

    Assessment

    Written paper to be evaluated first regarding the thoroughness and carefulness of the description given and secondly regarding the amount of analysis made. Grades are awarded according the scale passed with distinction, passed or failed and according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).
