General provisions

The content, length and level of the education are regulated by chapter 1, section 9 of the Higher Education Act 1 (1992:1434), by the Higher Education Ordinance (1993:100), and by the Ordinance on changes to the Higher Education Ordinance (2006:1053)

Entry requirements

At least 90 passed credit points in subjects from school year 1 and 2 in the programme. At admission to single subject course, older biomedical science education or equivalent skills is required.

Learning outcomes

The student should be able to on completion of the course - show deeper and broadened knowledge in biomedical science in one, by the student chosen, subject from previously completed courses on 61-150 credit point level - apply his/her knowledge in oral and written presentation - use scientific databases for acquiring of knowledge - formulate laboratory protocol from a scientific paper.

Content

- In depth studies in methods within a chosen subject area - oral presentation - database searches - formulate a laboratory protocol according to GLP.

Instruction

Individual studies, oral and written student reports and seminars.

Assessment

Examination is arranged as individual oral examination. Approved seminars are furthermore required for the grade passed and where appropriate, participation at demonstrations and study visits. Students who have not passed the examination have a right to attend 4 additional examinations (i.e. 5 examinations). If special circumstances apply, the programme committee can admit additional examination. Every time the student participates in an examination counts, i.e. also submission of a so called blank exam.
