Aims
This course aims to give theoretical and
practical knowledge in combustion technology used
in energy production systems. The course also aims
to provide a basis for understanding how <
combustion technology equipment is controlled and
regulated. Economical considerations.
Content
* Theory for flames and chemical reactions.
Main and side reactions (mechanisms of emission).
Combustion processes and gasification. Heat
transfer. Emergence of (undesired) emissions and
suppression of emission. Influence of additives.
* Fuels: Gaseous, liquidous and solid
fuels. Fireplaces and burners. Combustion on fluid
beds. Furnaces.
* Fuels: Specification, content, characteristics
and handling. Control and regulation of
combustion processes. Measurement techniques.

Assessment
Written examination at the end of the course (certain parts of the course can have other forms of examination). Presence at laboratory and project work contained in the course is compulsory and passed reports are also required.
