Entry requirements

The Intensive Programme in Humanitarian Action is only available to students admitted to the NOHA programme.

Learning outcomes

The learning outcomes of the module are to bring students and faculty together from all the NOHA network universities to create a joint understanding of the work and challenges in the field of International Humanitarian Action.

Content

The course is the first component in the NOHA programme and is an intensive

10 day course organised within the framework of the Socrates programme. It is an introduction to the NOHA programme in general, a thematic introduction to the field of Humanitarian action, and a presentation of the options available in the participating universities during the second semester in the NOHA programme

Instruction

Teaching takes the form of seminars, workshops, and lectures. The location of the intensive program varies from year to year among the participating universities according to a rolling schedule. The language of instruction is English

Assessment

The Intensive programme will be examined through active attendance and a Paper of 2000 words to be handed in two weeks after the end of the IP. If a student fails to achieve the grade pass on the paper submitted she/he will have to write an extended paper equivalent to the ones written by students not attending the IP (see below).

Grade: G (pass) as well as ECTS grades.

Other regulations

Normally the students will be offered food and accommodation for free during the IP by the NOHA network.

Should a student not be able to participate in the Intensive programme, a paper should be submitted, after consultation with the student's local NOHA examiner.

Transitional provisions

Members of a course regulated by a former version of this course plan have the possibility to be examined in accordance with that course plan within two years after the closure of the course. If there are particular reasons, such an examination can take place also later on. Normally no instruction in accordance with former versions of the course plan is given.
