Mathematics, 30 ECTS credits, and computer science, 45 ECTS credits.

Learning outcomes

For a pass mark, the student shall

  • have knowledge of some different processes to create systems, in particular software systems, that are used in practice
  • be able to explain their strengths and weaknesses, and assess their suitability in a given context
  • be able to describe the activities of the software engineering: requirements, design, implementation, testing, maintenance (what these activities involve, and how they are related).
  • be able to write a specification with unambiguous, separated and traceable requirements.
  • be able to test a program in a systematic way, with the specification as basis.

Content

Requirements definition and specification, prototypes, formal specification, design methods, reliability and safety, validation and verification, maintenance, reuse, project planning, quality assurance.

Instruction

Lectures and guest lectures.

A project with an implementation group.

Assessment

Written exam (4.5 credits). Assignments as part of the project (3 credits).
