Entry requirements

Bachelor's degree including 90 credits chemistry or equivalent.

Learning outcomes

After the course, the student should have a solid basis for further studies within the Master programme in chemistry. The structure of the course is provided individually (by combinations of different blocks) depending on the student's background and the chosen specialisation within the programme.

After the course, the student should:

  • have acquired wider and/or deeper theoretical knowledge necessary for further studies within the chosen specialisation.
  • be able to plan laboratory work and carry out a risk analysis
  • be able to assemble laboratory equipment.
  • be able to evaluate experiments using, for the chosen specialisation, establishd analytical and spectroscopic methods.
  • be able to keep laboratory journal and write laboratory reports

Content

Within the course, there are five different blocks of 5 credits. The student chooses a total of 10 credits after consultation with the director of studies for the chosen specialisation.

Block I

Laboratory course to obtain the necessary experimental skills for the chosen specialisation

Block II

Laboratory course to obtain deeper expeimental skills for the chosen specialisation

Block III

Theory course to obtain a diversification of previous knowledge for the continuing studies within the chosen specialisation

Block IV

Theory course to obtain deeper knowledge within the chosen specialisation

Block V

Theory course to obtain knowledge on an advanced level within the chosen specialisation

Assessment

Written and/or oral examination for each chosen block. The final grade will be weighted.
