Aims
Students will acquire basic knowledge in structure and function of proteins, lipids, carbohydrates and nucleic acids, enzymology, energetics, intermediary metabolism and biological membranes genetic transfer of information in vivo and in vitro.
Content
Characteristics of proteins, lipids, carbohydrates and nucleic acids. Enzyme structure, function and kinetics. Biosynthesis of DNA and RNA.
High-energetic molecules. The metabolism of biomolecules and energy. Methods for gene analysis.
Instruction
Lectures, laboratory sessions, group assignments and seminars.
Assessment
Individual written tests. A pass also requires participation in seminars and a pass mark for laboratory work.
