Learning outcomes
In order to pass the course (grade 3) the student should
- make a mathematical model of a real world problem and be able to evaluate and validate the model against data;
- be able to use scientific papers which combine mathematics with experimental data;
- demonstrate ability to work in groups.
Content
The course will consist of a short introduction to a real world problem. The students will work in smaller groups in order to formulate, solve and report on a model of the problem and compare this model to available data. Their progress will be monitored through regular meeting with a supervisor.
Instruction
Introductory lectures, computer laboratories and consultation.
Assessment
Group report on project outcome.
