Entry requirements
At least 120 credits, including Discrete math and Algorithms and data structures or the equivalent.
Learning outcomes
The student shall after the course be able to
* account for the cryptographic theories, principles and techniques that are used to establish security properties,
* analyse and use methods for cryptography,
* reflect about limits and applicability of methods based on regulations and ethical considerations.
Content
Theory and practice for:
- Classical ciphers. Block and stream ciphers.
-- Affine ciphers, DES, AES, and LFSR
- Enthophy and unicity distance
-- parts of Shannon
- Methods for message authenticity
-- Hash functions with and without key
- Public key ciphers
-- RSA, ElGamal, semantic security
Instruction
Lectures, labs and guest lectures
Assessment
The theoretical part encompass 4.5 credits and is examined with an exam and the practical part encompass 3 credits and is examined with assignments.
