Entry requirements

Nursing programme:

Medical science 1–30 Swedish Credits or equivalent;

Pedagogics 1–15 Swedish Credits or equivalent;

Nursing 1-35 Swedish Credits or equivalent.

Aims

The student shall acquire specific knowledge in surgical and medical nursing and in acute care and be able to apply an analytical and problem solving approach to his/her work. The student shall also be able to apply his/her knowledge of crisis management when comforting patients and significant others in different difficult situations.

Content

Specific surgical and/or medical nursing.

Specific nursing of the acutely ill.

Care planning and documentation.

Specific pain conditions.

Specific nutritional needs.

Nursing management and leadership.

Instruction

Supervised clinical education integrated with theoretical knowledge in surgical or medical wards;

Study visits;

Practical exercises

Assessment

Satisfactory clinical practice, active participation in study visits and practical exercises.
