Learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student is expected to be able to - understand basic programming concepts - design programs in an object-oriented programming language. - know and use basic object-oriented concepts: inheritance, interface and polymorphism - apply programming aids in an integrated development environment

Content

Programming in an integrated development environment, introduction to graphics handling, constants, variables, primitive data types, library classes, calculations, methods, arguments and parameters, flow structures for selection, iteration, debugging, user defined classes, string manipulation and basic data structures (arrays), inheritance, interfaces, polymorphism, exceptions

Lectures, lessons and laboratory sessions

Assessment

Examination and project work. Possible grade is failed, passed or passed with distinction
