Aims

The students will acquire knowledge of the biochemical processes underlying disease in order to improve the understanding of diagnostic methods in clinical chemistry and haematology. Acquire knowledge how to interpret the results of clinical chemical laboratory investigations. Gain information on laboratory organisation, quality assurance and responsibilities in clinical chemistry.

Content

Interpretation of laboratory data. Serum protein markers. Haematology and anaemia. Haemostasis. Endocrinology. Heart, liver and kidney function. Inflammation. Drug and clinical toxicological analysis.

Instruction

Lectures, laboratory work and seminars.

Assessment

Individual written test. A pass also requires participation in seminars and a pass mark for laboratory work.
