General provisions

The course is a mandatory part of the Master's programme in Gender and Ethnic Studies and an elective part of the Master's Programme in the Humanities with a specialisation in Gender Studies. The student is responsible for finding their own placement. The placement has to be approved by the Centre for Gender Research.

Entry requirements

Only students enrolled in the Master's programme in Gender and Ethnic Studies or the Master's Programme in the Humanities with a specialisation in Gender Studies are eligible for the course.

Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to give students in-depth opportunities to apply and develop knowledge from the Master's programme in Gender and Ethnic Studies or the Master's Programme in the Humanities with a specialisation in Gender Studies in a relevant professional setting, and to theoretically apply knowledge in an internship report.

Following successful completion of the course students will be able to:

• Relate, in writing and orally, their experiences from the internship to the theoretical knowledge acquired during one of the Master's programmes.
• Demonstrate the ability to respond to supervision and integrate feedback independently.

Content

The course takes the form of an in-depth internship within areas relevant for each Master's programme, for instance at companies, government bodies or organizations where questions of gender, diversity or equal opportunities are discussed and handled.

Instruction

Orientation session with supervisor. Attendance at the workplace is mandatory during the agreed-upon working hours. A final seminar where the experiences from the internship are presented.

Assessment

When the internship is completed, the student will submit an in-depth written account and evaluation of the internship to the course coordinator. The experiences from the internship are presented orally at a seminar. A certificate of the student's attendance is submitted by the workplace supervisor.
