Aims

The course shall provide basic knowledge of the morphology,

physiological processes and pharmacological principles of the human body, and fundamental pathology. The student

shall also, gain insight into certain methods of clinical

examination and gain skills in methods of animal

experimentation.

Content

The course shall provide basic and integrative knowledge of the morphology, physiological processes and pharmacological principles of the human body, and fundamental pathology. The students shall also, gain insight into certain methods of clinical methods of clinical examination and gain skills in methods of animal experimentation.

The student shall acquire knowledge about the morphology, physiology, pharmacology and basic pathology of the human body in the following areas:

Blood and lymphatic system

Heart and circulation

Respiration

Kidneys, fluid balance

Acid-base balance

Digestive tract

Metabolism and temperature regulation

Endocrinology

Reproduction

Nutrition

Instruction

Lectures, laboratory work with human and animal experiments,

computer simulations, microscopy, problem-oriented group

studies, seminars and demonstrations.

Project work. The aim of this is to teach the students to work

independently and in groups. Each group is given the task of

independently gaining deeper knowledge in areas of

physiological or pharmacological science or about one of our

most common diseases.

Assessment

To fulfil the requirements for passing the course, the student

shall have satisfactorily participated in all laboratory work,

microscopic work, group projects, seminars and

demonstrations.

A written examination at the end of the course.
