Aims

The student will acquire knowledge in evidence-based psychiatry and psychiatric nursing that is required in the practice as a professional nurse.

Content

The student will be introduced to subjects like:

Psychiatric morbidity in children, adolescents, adults and elderly.

Cultural aspects and gender differences.

Medical and psychological treatments.

Application of the nursing process in psychiatric care.

Rehabilitation/habilitation within mental illness.

Ethical and legal concepts in psychiatric care.

Instruction

Supervised clinical education integrated with theoretical knowledge in psychiatric inpatient and outpatient care. Study visits.

Assessment

Satisfactory clinical practice, active participation in practical exercises and study visits.
