Entry requirements
University degree, minimum of 180 credits, in medicine, nursing, nutrition or other area relevant to international health. All applicants need to verify English language proficiency. This is normally attested by means of an internationally recognised test such as TOEFL or IELTS.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course the participants will be able to analyse important global sexual and reproductive health problems and describing the evidence base for major interventions in the area. They will be able to discuss the role of public health and health services as well as international agreements. Furthermore they will be able to develop a project in the area and discuss methodological and ethical aspects of the same.
Content
Global sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) addressing maternal and newborn health, adolescent health, STD and HIV/AIDS, family planning, abortion care. Public health and health care in low income countries. Research priorities and strategies in resource poor settings.
Instruction
Students learning is facilitated by lectures, literature studies, seminars, as well as individual and group assignments. Some of the instruction has a problem-based approach. Time will be allocated for a mini-project work. All lectures, readings, assignments, and examinations are in English.
Assessment
Assessment is done based on written (70%) and oral presentation (15%) and discussion of an individual project (15%).
