Learning outcomes
After a successfully completed course the students should be able to:
- describe the trends and upcoming technology in the energy supply chain,
- analyse the changes in electricity supply, both technical and social,
- actively participate in discussions on electricity supply with facts and arguments, and even lead presentations and discussions.
Content
The course treats current and future trends in technology and society related to electricity supply; challenges and opportunities associated with the topic. Discussions that can be addressed include the impact of renewable energy proportion, intermittent electricity, distributed versus centralized power generation, the European vision of a "super grid" for high voltage direct current and its impact on the Swedish electricity grid and Swedish electricity customers.
Instruction
Lectures, seminars and study visits.
Assessment
Continuous assessment during the course through active participation in seminars and a written report.
