Entry requirements
To be admitted to the course, undergraduate degree of at least 180 credits is required, of which at least 90 credits are within Social Science, or equivalent and the course Quantitative methods, 7.5 credits (second cycle) or a basic course in Statistics, 15 credits (first cycle), or equivalent
Learning outcomes
A student who has taken the course should:
- have obtained practice in applying multivariate statistical methods for the social and the behavioural sciences
- be able to chose appropriate statistical method based on prevailing assumptions
- be able to use the statistical software package SPSS and Lisrel
- be able to interpret the results of a statistical analysis
- be aware of limitations and possible sources of errors in the analysis
- have ability to present results of statistical analysis
Content
Practical application of multivariate methods used within the social and the behavioural sciences. Basic concepts for Statistical inference. Cleaning and Transforming data. Relationships between variables, Correlation, Simple and Multiple Regression, Logistic Regression. Factor Analysis and Structural Equations modelling (SEM). ANOVA, MANOVA and Non-parametric analysis.
Instruction
Teaching is given in the form of lectures and seminars.

Examination and assignments.
