Entry requirements

In order to be accepted to the course the participant must have a minimum of 60 ECTS credits. The participant should have adequate knowledge of spoken and written English.

Aims

AIMS

The course aims at enhancing participants’ preparedness for a future teaching profession in a multicultural school. The participants shall develop an understanding for and knowledge of students’ learning through a second language. They shall acquire a deeper understanding of integration and segregation and its consequences for children and young adults with immigrant backgrounds.

Content

CONTENT

The course consists of:

– bilingualism and second language learning

– language socialisation, literacy development

– sociocultural processes in school and society

– minority language students, learning and school success

Instruction

FORMS AND ACTIVITIES

The teaching will be carried through via lectures, seminars and field studies.

Assessment

EXAMINATION

The examination will take place through assessment and evaluation of oral and written assignments.

The grades Fail, Pass or Pass with Distinction will be used.
