Aims

GOALS

The students shall improve their ability to promote international understanding in the teaching profession. They shall acquire a deeper understanding of the general factors that govern the conditions of learning by increasing their knowledge of the importance of teacher education and educational objectives in the shaping of education and the way schooling is formed.

Content

CONTENT

Education and teaching – the conditions of learning, 4.5 ECTS-credits (3 weeks)

- the role of school in society and the general factors that govern the way education and schooling is organised

- teaching and the school system in a chosen country and project area

- preparation for project work

Project work, 7.5 ECTS-credits (5 weeks)

- introduction of field studies

- field studies in a chosen country and project area

- compilation of collated material

Follow-up, 3 ECTS-credits (2 weeks)

- project work report

Instruction

FORMS AND ACTIVITIES

The teaching is organised as lectures, seminars, study visits and the reading of course literature. A project work of 7.5 ECTS-credits in the form of field studies in Sweden or abroad is part of the course.

Assessment

EXAMINATION

The examination will take the form of continuous assessment of the assignments that the participant is asked to complete within each sub-course. Details of these and the grading criteria will be given at the commencement of the course.

The grades Fail, Pass or Pass with Distinction will be used.

Participants who have failed the course or part of a course are entitled to retake the examination for a Pass grade.
