60 credits in Energy Technology including Wind Power Energy II, 7.5 credits, Wind Turbine Technology, 7.5 credits, Wind Power Grid Integration and Distributed Generation, 7.5 credits, Wind Power Planning and Permission, 7.5 credits, Wind Power Supply-Chain and Operations Management, 7.5 credits, or equivalent knowledge

Learning outcomes

After approved course the student should be able to:

  • find and evaluate a site for a wind power project establishment
  • use planning methods, WBS, GANTT, for the planning of a wind power project process
  • describe a feasibility study for the development of a wind power project
  • account for necessary steps in the wind power project development process considering existing legislation
  • perform and analyse production calculations and estimate the economical conditions for a wind power project
  • discuss, compare and analyse opposing interests and environmental aspects

Content

A feasibility study in the project development process for a wind power project establishment is accounted for. The student performs and analyses energy production calculations and estimates the economical conditions for the project while wind resources, opposing interests and environment are examples of aspects that are explored. Documentation and follow-up of the work process of the project assignment are included and also studies with the student’s reflections on existing wind power projects during course duration.

Instruction

The course is given as a net-based course. Assignments are submitted to the e-classroom on the Internet and the student is given personal feedback by the tutor. A forum for discussion is also available.

Assessment

Written hand-in assignments and a written project report which is also examined by an oral presentation.
