Entry requirements
University degree, minimum of 180 credits, in medicine, nursing, nutrition or another area relevant to international health. All applicants need to verify English language proficiency. This is normally attested by means of an internationally recognised test such as TOEFL or IELTS.
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to give tools to allow study, analysis and comparison of health systems in countries at different economic levels. At the end of the course students will:
- Have a working knowledge of several areas of health systems research and management.
- Be familiar with some methods, tools and theories underpinning the area.
- Be able to compare health systems at different economic levels.
Content
The course covers studies of health systems and their components as suggested by WHO.
Instruction
The course consists of lecture, seminars, group work, including preparation for presentations, and individuals study. Pre-course knowledge and experiences among the course participants will be used as starting point for discussions. Collaboration via Internet with Master's students at a foreign university.
Assessment
Participants work is evaluated through written and verbal assignments, both individual and group throughout the course, as well as a written exam. All examinations are in English.
