Entry requirements

Anatomy 7.5 credits (3AN014), Cell Biology with Biochemistry 22.5 credits (3MU121), Tissue Biology with Embryology 15 credits (3MU122), Neurobiology and Pharmacology 15 credits (3MU131) and further 15 credits biomedical courses.

Learning outcomes

The degree project should give the student knowledge about how to search for scientific facts and about how to plan, implement and present scientific work, and also give both theoretical and practical specialised knowledge within a biomedical subject area.

The student is expected on completion of the course to:

• Be able to search scientific literature
• Be able to summarise scientific literature
• Have basic knowledge about how to plan and carry out scientific work
• Have basic knowledge about how to analyse scientific data
• Be able to discuss scientific data
• Be able to present scientific data and conclusions in written and oral form

Content

The degree project includes search, studies and summary of scientific literature and practical work in close connection to ongoing biomedical research, compilation and critical analysis of results, and oral and written presentation.

Instruction

The studies take place under individual supervision and include literature studies, seminar exercises and practical work.

Assessment

The degree project should be presented orally for other students and in seminars in the presence of experts. It should also be presented in a for the purpose individually formulated written essay which forms the basis for examination.
