The module is offered within the Master's Programme in International Humanitarian Action 120 ECTS credits.
Entry requirements
The Literary Course in Humanitarian Action I is only available to students admitted to the NOHA programme.
Learning outcomes
The learning outcomes of this module aim to extend and improve the students’ knowledge of a field related to humanitarian action. After successful completion of course, it is expected that the student have the following competences:
- an extensive ability to understand and describe the literature
- an ability to analyse and critically assess the literature with a high degree of independence
- an ability to analyse different problems and questions related to humanitarian action by using relevant literature
- an ability to communicate academic knowledge in a stringent and clear way
- an ability to understand both the strengths and weaknesses of ones reasoning
Content
The module consists of a literature course of 7.5 credits. The course provides improved understanding of an issue related to humanitarian action.
Instruction
Language of instruction is English.
Assessment
The module consists of readings and is examined by the student writing a report of at least 4000 words (7.5 credits). Grade: VG, G or U (Pass with distinction, Pass or Fail) as well as ECTS grades.
Transitional provisions
Members of a module regulated by a former version of syllabus have the possibility to be examined in accordance with that course plan within two years after the closure of the module. If there are particular reasons, such an examination can take place also later on. Normally no instruction in accordance with former versions of the course plan is given.
