Aims
Basic knowledge of kinematic and Newtonian kinetics of particles, systems of particles and rigid bodies. Knowledge of inertial and noninertial reference frames.
Content
Measuring techniques and estimation of uncertainties in measurements. Kinematic and Newtonian kinetics of particles, systems of particles and rigid bodies. Inertial and noninertial reference frames.
Laboratory exercises: Computer supported measuring techniques. Physical relations found through speculation, dimensional analysis and measurements. Measurement of the gravitational acceleration g using an air track. Rotational motion (computer supported). Ballistic pendelum. Rotating reference frames.
Instruction
Lectures, problem solving sessions and laboratory exercises.
Assessment
Written examination at the end of the course. Participation in the laboratory exercises is compulsory.
